Bridlington Town 1-0 Steels

Results elsewhere made sure that Stocksbridge Park Steels had a place in the play-offs despite a 1-0 loss to Bridlington Town.

The Steels had some bright moments to begin with but Bridlington were soon able to take control of the game. A powerful header from James Williamson had to be cleared off the line by Kurtis Turner before Andy Norfolk’s strong volley was well saved by Ben Townsend.

Unfortunately, Bridlington’s pressure and chances eventually led to them scoring. Ali Aydemir broke down their right wing, found the space and whipped a fantastic ball for Matt Broadley to head in. It was well deserved and Stocksbridge couldn’t have any complaints.

The second half was not one for the purists as neither side were really able to make many opportunities. Considering this report needs to be a certain amount of words for the SEO to really work, that made things a real struggle. While Stocksbridge were able to cause some scrambles in the box, with Lewis Macaskill and Keegan Townrow causing problems, nothing fell right for a proper effort on goal. Most shots were blocked and then cleared.

With Bridlington happy to take the one-goal lead, this would ensure their own safety as they battled against ending up in the relegation play-offs, this led to Steels ending the season with a loss. However, due to Dunston losing 2-0 at Carlton Town, Stocksbridge were able to secure their place in the play-offs.
