Good evening and welcome to our visitors from Belper Town FC. We hope you enjoy our facilities at the Eco-Power stadium, unfortunately we cannot offer our usual hospitality due to the COVIDE restrictions, hopefully things will be back to normal soon.
I am writing these notes before our game at Stamford so hopefully we will have carried on our excellent away form coming into this game. Our two games at Sheffield and Lincoln brought contrasting performances, at Sheffield we dominated the game and produced some superb football at times and at Lincoln we showed good resilience to keep taking the lead and grind out the three points right up to the closing minutes of the game ,and that highlights the togetherness of the squad for me, hopefully we can bring those performances to our home games .
Away from the first team this season we have reintroduced our development squad and this squad is made up of several players from our under eighteen teams, this will give them valuable experience of adult football in the second division of the County Senior league. The young lads are technically very good, but they need to get used to the faster pace and greater physical presence of men’s football. Our reserve team also includes some under eighteen players and these lads are doing well for Richard and his management team in the Premier division of the same league, the next stage of their development will be to train with the first team squad and then hopefully follow Lewis Whitham into the matchday squad.
This summer has also seen us bring two more of the junior squads back to Bracken Moor to play on the pitch near the youth centre, this means that we now have six of the squads playing back in Stocksbridge and hopefully this will help with greater continuity in the future, the aim being to make the junior and senior sections strong throughout which can only benefit the club and bring the community closer together.
Thank you for your support tonight we hope you enjoy the game and have a safe journey home.
