Cleethorpes Town 0-0 Steels

Stocksbridge Park Steels registered their second 0-0 in a row in their last away game of the season against Cleethorpes Town.
The Owls started off well, almost forcing an own goal from Alex Phillipson. They also saw a lot of the ball, but it was Stocksbridge who made the better chances. A deflected cross fell to Alex O’Connor and he wasn’t too far off with his long range effort. Tomas Poole thought he had put the Steels ahead later on, but his header at the far post smashed into the side netting.
In the end, it wasn’t a half with many chances and both teams couldn’t have any complaints about going in goalless.
Like in the first half, both teams struggled to make many chances in the second half. Kurtis Turner did well to create an opportunity from a tight angle, but Ben Bottomley in the Cleethorpes goal made a smart save not just to stop the strike, but prevent it from falling to Tomas Poole who was waiting for a goal poacher’s finish.
But neither side were able to create much, and in the end both would have to be happy with just the point on this occasion.
