First piece of players news for the upcoming season. Our manager Chris Hilton has revealed that club captain Liam McFayden will make his long awaited for return to first team action in the 2020/21 season. The club captain missed out on last season before it was ended again due to COVID but has put pen to paper for the forthcoming season which will be news welcomed by Steels fans everywhere.
This will be his eighth season with the Steels and the players will be looking to him for leadership in some of the tough games they’ll be facing this season. While McFayden didn’t play for Stocksbridge last season, he did have a brief loan spell with Athersley Rec over the Christmas period. He has also previously played for Worsborough alongside manager Chris Hilton.
