Chris Hilton has sent this statement:
I wanted to take a few days to get my thoughts together before putting out a few words that reflect the privilege it has been to be the manager of Stocksbridge Park Steels for the last seven years and almost 300 games.
My decision to resign was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make, but with a heavy heart it was the right decision for myself and the club. The success in reaching the first round of the FA Trophy in 2015/16 & 2016/17 and the run to the play offs in 2018 were undoubtedly the playing highlights.
I would like to thank all the people I have worked with over the years, players, coaches, managerial team, two first class Chairman in Alan and Graham, the committee and the wonderful volunteers.
Also wanted to say thank you to everybody who has been in touch over the last couple of days, it has blown me away with the amount of nice comments and I cannot thank you all enough. It’s now time to spend time with family & friends, recharge the batteries and see what happens in the future.
I wish Stocksbridge Park Steels the very best of luck in the future.
