Jubilee Sports 1-3 Steels Reserves

Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves beat Jubilee Sports FC 3-1 away from home in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League on Saturday, 28th September.
Barring an early attempt from Matthew Lee, the game got off to an uneventful start, with both goalkeepers hardly breaking a sweat in the first 25 minutes. However, a well-worked attack down the right flank saw the Steels eventually take the lead just before the half-hour mark.
Kyle Austin played Lee through on the right-hand side before quickly receiving it back from the winger. The right-back then found Oliver Nowak, who took a touch and found the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box.
Stocksbridge immediately upped the tempo in an attempt to double their lead and succeeded four minutes later, with Lee finding the back of the net from his third attempt of the game.
The game came alive in the final 15 minutes of the first half, with three Jubilee Sports players being shown the yellow card.
Austin had a chance to add another goal to the Steels’ tally in the second half, but was denied by the Jubilee Sports goalkeeper. The hosts then halved their deficit with a neat chip over goalkeeper Ewan Oxborough.
Lee and Nowak came close to restoring Stocksbridge’s two-goal. The former had a spectacular overhead kick saved by the opposition goalkeeper. Nowak was also denied in similar fashion after being set up for a shot by a marauding Austin.
Jubilee Sports, meanwhile, threatened to score at the other end, but was contained by the Steels defence.
Any lingering doubts were then put to bed by substitute Cole Thorpe, who calmly found the bottom-left corner from the edge of the box.
Mark Fretwell’s side have now won each of their last three games and are unbeaten in four. They will look to extend the run further when they visit Silkstone United in the league next weekend.
