Scott Ruthven departs

Scott Ruthven has departed Stocksbridge Park Steels after seven years with the club.

Ruthven has been playing with the club for seven years, firstly operating as a striker before moving into either an attacking or central midfield role in his later years with the side. He scored 65 goals over his time with the club which included two wins this season. These goals came in the 3-2 win over Pickering Town and the 2-2 draw with Marske United.

Moments to remember for fans will be his incredible performance against Ilkeston Town where his four goals helped Stocksbridge in a crucial promotion battle. He also scored a great free kick against Stalybridge Celtic live on BBC Sport that would be replayed in packages by the BBC later in the season.

Everyone at the club would like to wish Scott the best for his future wherever it may take him.

Stocksbridge manager Ian Richards said: “We are sorry to see Scott leave but fully respect his decision.

“I cannot thank him enough for his efforts and commitment during his time with the club and what he has given the club for nearly seven years.

“I wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
