The club are pleased to be able to announce our new sponsor for our under 18 squad it’s already been announced via the Hero magazine website and media in the USA
We spent a lot of time in the UK, and while on tour I discovered the Steels Football Club, I had previously been in touch with the club about purchasing a Steels jersey, due to the striking similarity of our names. In the time since, I have transitioned from behind the drums to the front of the stage.
My new project, Steele FC, is a solo venture with inspiration drawn from New Wave and Manchester, My live band is composed of my best friends and Sunday league teammates (one is a Yorkshire boy!). We play against teams with other New York based musicians, and when we aren’t playing music or sport, we are arguing about it in group chats.
The other month, from a bolt from the blue, I decided that I wanted to find a way to sponsor a shirt for The Steels, It felt like a shot in the dark, but when I spoke on the phone with the club, they let me know there was an opening to sponsor the Under 18 side, I was thrilled.
To be able to provide kits for the academy of a community based club is a very special feeling, I am excited to be a part of the long lineage of musicians sponsoring local teams, and am honoured to be able to support a youth side, I know how important sport can be- playing is great for a clear and healthy mind, and is also one of the greatest unifiers we have. The love and passion for the game allows strong bonds to be built, and helps us express and process emotions in ways we may not be able to otherwise.
Playing team sports has taught me crucial life lessons in my childhood, and has been an incredible vehicle for deepening my social bonds as an adult.
There’s an unexplainable magic that accompanies team sports, and something so special in how deep and universal the undying love for football is. I have learned so much about life and people and other cultures, with football as the vehicle.
