Stocksbridge sign Jack Bennett

Stocksbridge Park Steels have completed the signing of Jack Bennett from Emley.

Fans who joined the Steels on their travels in pre-season may remember Bennett when we faced Emley in a pre-season friendly. In that game, Bennett scored what would be the winner when he latched onto a defence splitting pass to go clear on goal before finishing pass trialist goalkeeper Callum Fielding.

The 21-year-old striker is a product of the Emley youth system and it has been a point of pride for the club to have him leading their line. Bennett has scored five goals this season with many of his appearances coming off the bench. He signed before yesterday’s abandoned match with Sheffield and was an unused substitute.

After his signing, Stockbridge manager Ian Richards said: “Jack is a young attacking player with the potential to do well at this level.

“He is strong, quick and direct in his play and has an excellent attitude to learn and improve his all-around game.”
