Stocksbridge sign Sam Scrivens on loan

Stocksbridge Park Steels have signed Sam Scrivens on loan from Grantham Town for a month.

The 25-year-old striker is currently contracted to Grantham where he has made an appearance this month. He will now follow Josh Millen who recently signed for the Steels from the Lincolnshire side, though Scrivens only moves on a temporary deal.

Scrivens has played for several non-league sides including Emley, Matlock Town and Guiseley. He is very familiar to manager Ian Richards as the forward played under him at Penistone Church. When playing for the North East Counties League side, he scored over 30 goals in a season which led to Richards saying ‘he deserves a chance at full-time football’.

After the deal was done, Richards said: “I know Sam Scrivens very well from our time at Penistone Church. He was instrumental in our success before leaving to play higher at Guiseley, Matlock and most recently, Grantham.

“He is a pacy, direct attacker who enjoys taking players on. He joins us in a short term deal as he returns from injury and due to us having a number of players unavailable this Saturday and returning from injury.

“A big thank you to Jas Colliver for agreeing to the deal and his co-operation in both Sam’s and Josh’s signing.

“Likewise, thank you to Vil Powell at Brighouse who made the signing of Alex (O’Connor) a smooth one.”
