Tusaale United 1-7 Steels Reserves

Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves earned a 7-1 win against Tusaale United FC to progress into the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday, August 14th.
Not even a minute had passed when the Steels got their first goal of the game. It was Tusaale who got the ball rolling, but a quick attacked down the left wing followed by a cross saw Ollie Cormack give his team the lead with a bit of a helping hand from a deflection.
Five minutes later, a Tusaale defender turned the ball into his own net following an in-swinging corner from Cormack to double Stocksbridge’s lead.
Both sides were denied by the woodwork before Ethan Thompson got Stocksbridge’s third midway through the first-half. Bradley Adams dribbled past his man on the left-hand side before delivering a pinpoint cross to Cormack, who pulled it back to Thompson. The midfielder then found the bottom left corner from the edge of the box.
Tusaale, though, pulled one back four minutes later to the Steels’ disappointment.
Stocksbridge restored their three-goal lead 10 minutes into the second half, courtesy of what was perhaps the best bit of football in the game. Thompson tapped the ball in to finish off a brilliant team effort that saw Harvey Wigglesworth, John Hennessey and Cormack involved in the build-up.
It did not take long for the Steels to quadruple their lead. Cormack’s corner was met by Tyler Folly, whose header was flicked in by Thompson, who thus completed a hat-trick.
Mark Fretwell’s side added two more goals as the game neared an end. Cole Thorpe set up Adams for a tap-in with a pinpoint cross before Hennessey got in on the act with a spectacular curler from the edge of the box.
Having kicked of their season with two cup wins, the reserves will commence their league campaign at Bracken Moor on Saturday, 17th August.
