Managers Sheffield Notes

We provide a warm welcome to all connected to Sheffield FC to the Eco-Power Stadium for tonight’s rearranged game from the Christmas period. It was disappointing that the original fixture so late into the game, regardless of the scoreline in our favour, the referee should have completed the final 15 minutes in front of our biggest crowd of the season. What we must do is make sure that we are fully focused on gaining all 3 points in the highly anticipated and competitive derby. Sheffield FC are fighting for their lives to keep their status in this league so we know this will be tough game, as we know that they have strengthened as a squad and will be giving everything to win the game.

I was pleased with our character, mentality and response on Saturday following the disappointing result against Frickley and going one nil down early on against Lincoln. Our attacking play was excellent full of pace, intensity and quality in the final third. I thought the midfield for the first time playing together did well against their 4 and the front 3 linked up well for all our goals. Special mention to Luke Mangham who is now the second top goalscorer in the league, and scored back to back hatricks at home. He is a quality player and when we allow him to play between the width of the box and get the ball into the right areas between the posts he is as good as any number 9 in this league. He is pivotal to our success moving forward and will only get better as a player.

Sheffield FC have made a number of new signings since we last played them and had a positive result recently beating Pontefract Colleries 4-0 and in other games only narrowly losing by a single goal. This should make it an entertaining and competitive game, hopefully in front of a bumper crowd as we offer £5 entry for adults and £3 for juniors. IT is alos, great to hear and see the positive comments from visitors abaout the match day experience, teh quality of football on show and the excellent new Members club initiative. We hope you continue to support and enjoy watching football at Bracken Moor, as a club we continue to move forward on and off the pitch.

Enjoy the game,
Ian
